Dr. Brian Bak, D.C.
A chiropractor with a lifelong passion for helping others, who has practiced in the Glacial Lakes area since he graduated in 1986.
Beresford to Watertown
Dr. Brian Bak was born and raised in Beresford, South Dakota, the last of four brothers. In high school he excelled in academics, music and sports: he captained the 1979 State B boys basketball team, played quarterback, captained the 1979 golf team, sang in All-State Chorus and played first-chair trombone in his high school band, which won many state and national competitions.
The week that made a chiropractor
As a young ball player he was sent to practitioners of many specialties for low back pain, with no relief. Then he was brought to the local chiropractor, Dr. Kroon, who quickly found the problem and treated it. Brian was back on the court at full speed within a week, when it had seemed his season was lost. He knew then that chiropractic would be his great love.
Training
Dakota State College (now Dakota State University) offered him a basketball scholarship. He spent three years there completing most of his pre-chiropractic curriculum while playing varsity basketball, golf and baseball, then finished his pre-professional education at SDSU in Brookings. He earned his Doctor of Chiropractic at Northwestern College of Chiropractic in St. Paul, Minnesota, graduating on August 15, 1986, and moved to Watertown to practice. He has practiced in the Glacial Lakes area ever since.
In Watertown
Dr. Bak has served on many boards of directors, including Dakota Sportsman, Inc., Rotary of Watertown, Rising Star, the Glacial Lakes Harmonizers and Benet Place Assisted and Independent Living. He has directed the Glacial Lakes Harmonizers men’s barbershop chorus for 25 years, sings in the Hogwild barbershop quartet, and sings in the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer choir and on its contemporary worship team.
He and his wife, Christine, raised two sons, and he loves camping, fishing, hunting, local sporting events and, most of all, time with his four grandchildren.
Dr. Bak is passionate about his profession and about using his skills to improve the quality of his patients’ lives.
