What it is

Active care rehabilitation plays a vital role in how Bak Chiropractic treats its patients. Since 1995 the practice has helped people in Watertown recover from injury and improve their physical function through targeted exercise programs.

You are given the tools to control your recovery through guided movement and strengthening, working alongside the practice to restore function and prevent future injuries with proven methods.

Flexibility enhancement

Improving your range of motion makes daily activities easier and helps prevent injuries. Restrictions are found with diagnostic techniques, then customized exercises safely increase mobility and reduce muscle tension.

Signs you could benefit

  • Difficulty bending or reaching
  • Stiffness after sitting or sleeping
  • Reduced athletic performance
  • Tight muscles that will not relax
  • Discomfort during routine movements
  • Poor posture affecting your mobility

What the care targets

  • Spinal alignment and joint function
  • Muscle tension and imbalances
  • Nerve interference affecting movement
  • Postural problems limiting flexibility
  • Previous injuries restricting motion
  • Age-related mobility concerns

Proprioception training

Proprioception is your body’s ability to sense its position and movement, and balance and coordination depend on it. Specialized exercises retrain your nervous system to respond, reducing fall risk and enhancing athletic performance.

Signs you could benefit

  • Frequent ankle sprains or joint instability
  • Difficulty keeping your balance during activities
  • Feeling unsteady on uneven surfaces
  • Loss of coordination after an injury
  • Chronic joint pain or weakness
  • Decreased athletic performance

Why it matters

  • Reduces the risk of future injuries
  • Improves athletic performance and agility
  • Speeds recovery from sprains and strains
  • Corrects posture and body mechanics
  • Builds confidence in daily activities
  • Supports long-term joint health

Strengthening programs

Building muscular strength provides the foundation for proper spinal support and injury resilience. Progressive programs target weak areas while making sure every exercise is performed safely and effectively.

What a program includes

  • Core stabilization exercises
  • Postural strengthening techniques
  • Injury prevention training
  • Sport-specific conditioning
  • Progressive resistance programs
  • Functional movement training

When it helps

  • Recurring pain or discomfort during activities
  • Weakness after an injury or surgery
  • Poor posture affecting your daily routine
  • Difficulty with work or household tasks
  • Balance or stability concerns
  • Chronic muscle fatigue

Stretching exercises

Regular stretching maintains soft tissue health and prevents the compensating movement patterns that lead to pain. You are taught stretches for your condition, so you can keep doing them at home as part of your wellness routine.

Signs you could benefit

  • Persistent muscle tightness or stiffness
  • Reduced flexibility in joints and muscles
  • Frequent muscle cramps or spasms
  • Poor posture or alignment issues
  • Chronic back, neck or shoulder tension
  • Limited mobility affecting daily tasks

The benefits

  • Improved flexibility and range of motion
  • Reduced risk of injury during activities
  • Better circulation and muscle recovery
  • Decreased muscle tension and pain
  • Better posture and body alignment
  • Stress relief and relaxation
